3. Please describe your knowledge of Star Wars? The more detailed the better, please: *
I've seen the movies countless times, and I really love them... I can pretty much watch them whenever. I love to talk about the Force, especially how it applies to our lives and our reality. My favorite part of Star Wars is the philosophy. I personally practice meditation, and would consider myself a Taoist, and I personally take the meaning of 'the Force' to be a near-equivallent of the concept of the 'Tao'. I do energetics and am a spiritual counselor... I also just started learning Tai Chi and intend on eventually teaching it. Suffice it to say, I take the lore and the work of George Lucas and Joseph Campbell as well as all of the inspirations that went in to Star Wars and the star wars universe to a deep personal place. Other than that, I've read a bit about the game and its setting, I've looked at all the classes, I played a bit of the original KoToR before I got annoyed with it not working well with Windows 7. I also love almost anything BioWare. I've played ME and ME2 and made multiple different characters. I've recently just gotten through Dragon Age: Origins and Awakenings and I just got Dragon Age 2. I can't wait for TOR, I really want to see how much better story telling is with both BioWare's genious systems for character choice, which I have thoroughly enjoyed in their other games, combined with playing with members in an RP guild, which would really allow for a deeply enjoyable story-driven multiplayer role-play experience. Which is what we are all here for right?
4. Please tell us about your other guild/MMO experiences. If there is more than one guild/experience, please include all of them. If you left your last guild, please tell us why you decided to leave. If you have used more than one name, please list them all.*
Guild Name (Reason for leaving if applies): Invictus Sanctum (I didn't really enjoy the role-play experience or the lore... The world is too hodge-podge... The people were cool though, and they understood...)
-Game: World of Warcraft
-Name: Trasenael
-Level: 70
-Server: Twisting Nether
-Class: Shaman
-Race: Draenei
5. What type of role do you wish to take within the guild? How do you plan to be active? Please be specific.*
I would want to aspire to a role of respect within the guild, and wish to thoroughly enjoy the process by which one achieves the change in rank, and eventually it would be nice to be a council member and help set up awesome RP experiences for the group... I was thinking of how nice it would be to partner with another RP guild to play the other side, and to assign Master/Apprentice and Rival relationships and quests in order to rise in ranks, giving for an awesome optional RP experience actually involving combat, and personal relationships. I was just thinking, maybe we could have a system that made alignment matter for dark and light side, maybe you guys have one in mind?
6. Why do you feel the Army of Light is a good fit for you?*
I dunno man... I just feel it.. I love Star Wars, I love the light side of the Force, I love the Force, I love getting to know people, I love role-playing games, I love BioWare games, and I'm excited to have a good guild experience with rich role-play done maturely.
7. What do you expect of the guild? Please be specific.*
Honestly, to make a good group of friends and associates who I will enjoy having Star Wars role-play, Pve and Pvp experiences with. I don't really expect anything complicated, but I'm pretty open, even if thats the case.
8. Age:*
22
9. Time Zone:*
Pacific
10.Role-Play experience/expectations. Can you give us some examples of Role-Playing you have participated in before. When it comes to expectations, give us an example of what would be fun to participate in, what you are looking for, etc.*
I've played Dungeons and Dragons with a good group of friends for a few campaigns. We played in a psionics based universe, and it was really fun. I also played world of warccraft for a while and joined an RP guild on a RPPVP server, but I found that I didn't like the lore enough to ignore the incredible lack of character identification.
11. How can you benefit and help the guild? Please include any skills or talents you have that you would
enjoy doing within the guild. How have you helped your previous guild(s), if you have previous experience?*
I can help think of RP events, I always love working with lower level characters and being in a master/apprentice relationship. I dunno really... we can always talk about that more...
12. How do you define a quality member?*
I define a quality member as someone genuine, relaxed, open-minded, tolerant, thoughtful, respectful, humble, and if we're lucky, someone thought-provoking, insightful and/or funny.
13. How did you find the Army of Light? Did someone recruit you? If so, please let us know who.*
I found the Army of Light through the SWTOR official website. I looked for Republic RP guilds, and this one had the coolest concept and name.
14a.Have you visited our website and chat room, and familiarized yourself with the, Charter, Mission Statement, and Rules of Conduct? (You must answer in the affirmative and please prove that you
have)*
Yes I have, and I think you'll find that I am a like-minded individual in-so-far that I seek a pleasurable role-playing environment with friendly, mature and drama-free individuals. I understand that I should be very mindful and as in character as possible, never bringing up politics or religious discussions when pertaining to the real world (OOC). I understand that i may be kicked or banned for violating these rules and that I will be given a public and then private notice before so that I may correct my actions. I understand the process by which one becomes a learner, and then a padawan, and then a knight and then a master, and I'm excited to get really into a character. I also realized that you were obviously already planning the master/padawan thing, and that I understand why you might not team up with an empire rp guild, since its against the guilds ethic of integrity, I just thought it would be fun to have coordinated rp situations, like battles for territory and maybe we could have a galactic map distribution system, and then have wars to help further role-play and character development opportunities. But yea, I get it.
14b. Do you pledge to fulfill them, most notably to uphold the virtues of Maturity, Honor, Respect, Personal Ethics and No Drama?*
I, Alexander Pickett Catala, do hereby avow and affirm to fulfill the Rules of Conduct and to uphold the virtues of Maturity, Honor, Respect, Personal Ethics and No Drama, may the Force be with me.
15. Would you say that you embody the qualities of Respect, Honor, Loyalty, and Maturity? What are your definitions of these four words? Please don’t just answer yes or no, let us know why you think you possess these qualities.*
For me, the word respect really means not only a tolerance of another's person and character, but actually denotes an appreciation for their place in the universe and the similarities and differences you may have with him or her. I do believe I embody the quality of Respect, and although I have it innately for everyone, I may not express it as much until I feel comfortable and safe.
For me, the word honor is a measure by which one lives in accord to their values, morals or virtues. I consider myself quite honorable, and of good moral character. I strive to become a more virtuous person constantly. I am a seeker of wisdom and growth.
For me, the word loyalty gives me a sense of comradery, of partnership, of being there for one another, and is the ultimate expression of friendship or partnership. I consider myself loyal, yes, I think I am a good friend.
Maturity is really the ability to put yourself in other people's shoes. With this, you gain compassion and wisdom, not to mention patience and become less judgemental, learning to accept and appreciate rather than fight and complain. Maturity is simply expanded awareness or expanded consciousness. I consider myself mature, but this is such a relative term, there are always people far more mature than you, no matter where you are.
16. In more than 30 but less than 100 words, please describe your personal character and the type of person you are (We wish to get a good feel of the type of person that will be becoming a part
of our guild family)*
My name is Alex, I am 22 years old, I throughly enjoy the Star Wars universe as well as BioWare games. I live in Santa Monica, CA and right now I'm just out of college, living with my older sister, learning Tai Chi and meeting people. I'm quite a spiritual person and meditate quite often. I'm a healer and a spiritual counselor and will continue training in the energetic healing arts for the rest of my life. I love other sci-fi stuff as well, like firefly, battlestar galactica and cowboy bebop.
17. Tell us a little about your in-game character*
-Character Name: Raziel Lumea
-Character Physical/Mental Features: Long white hair, Miraluka race, Lighter complection
-Character Biography:
Ever since fleeing the wrath of Darth Nihilus and his attack on Katarr, the Lumea family took to a wandering life of fortune telling, using their innate ability to read the Force to support themselves. Uriel Lumea, Raziel's ancestor and progenitor, used his prophetic ability to look into his family's future just months before the attack on Katarr, and knowing well the nature of self-fulfilling prophecies decided to follow in the footsteps of his vision, to live a new and uncertain life as a nomad. By coincidence, luck, or the will of the Force, the Lumea family was spared the dark fate that so many experienced at the hands of the Sith Lord.
Raziel's mother, Seraphim, moved to Coruscant when she was 18, escaping a life of slavery on Hutta, in order to have her child in the relative safety of the slums of Coruscant. Raziel's father was a human salveowner on Hutta who took advantage of his mother. Raziel was taught the ways of his people, and what his mother understood of the force, until, at the age of 6, Raziel was discovered by Jedi Master Oni Shah and was taken to Tython for training. Upon hearing about the sacking of Coruscant, Raziel knew that although his mother was dead, that death is just an illusion, there is only The Force. From that day on, Raziel decided to fully dedicate himself to the Jedi Order so that other innocents would not have to suffer the same fate as Seraphim Lumea.
