I am a huge Star Wars buff, if I do say so myself. I love studying the history from the expanded universe, and I am currently working on creating a ‘complete’ complied version of all of this information, so that all star wars fans may learn. I have also read almost all of the star wars novels (Death Troopers being my favorite). I have seen all of the movies, including the original trilogy from the 70’s.

I did use to play SWG, but ever since all of the ‘improvements’, I lost interest in the game. I was not going to pay like $20/month for a game that I didn’t enjoy playing. I should point out that I was the Diplomatic Representative from The Force Is With Us, but seeing that the guild was going nowhere, I decided to leave the guild, and possibly join a guild with many active RP members.

5. What type of role do you wish to take within the guild? How do you plan to be active? Please be specific.*

In the guild, I wish to take the role of a Diplomatic Representative. I love politics (especially RP politics) and I feel like I could be a good negotiator with both friendly and hostile guilds. If there was ever a situation where the guild may be threatened by another guild, I feel like, based on my experience from studying other guilds, I could help stop any fighting from happening. I can also help with forming alliances with other guilds, in the hopes of creating a better RP experience for both parties.

6. Why do you feel the Army of Light is a good fit for you?*

I feel like the Army of Light is a good fit for me because we both share one common interest: To stop the Sith Empire. The Army of Light also has certain expectations of all of its guild members, which I believe all members should observer, so that there will be a sense of order in the guild. I also like how the guild is structured, so that there are ranks to work up to.

7. What do you expect of the guild? Please be specific.*

I expect to be treated with respect and dignity from the guild. I also expect there to be structure in the guild, and for the guild to be successful.

I am kind of new to the Idea of RP. I enjoy writing Star Wars novels, and creating a place where I can go and live out my science fiction fantasies along with other players. I expect there to be active forums for RP and forum moderators to make sure that all content is appropriate. With that note, I expect the members to be mature when they are playing and not playing.


11. How can you benefit and help the guild? Please include any skills or talents you have that you would
enjoy doing within the guild. How have you helped your previous guild(s), if you have previous experience?*

I feel like I could greatly help benefit the guild due to my substantial knowledge with Star Wars history and politics. I am also a composer and musician (though I am not sure that TOR will have outlets for artisans and musicians like SWG did). I am also good at preparing legal documents (which could be used as war declarations in the game, if it is possible in TOR to do so). I was the galactic ambassador for The Force Is With Us, and I did do a great job with forming alliances, and proposing agreements with said guilds. I should mention that I am the Web Owner and designer for the upcoming site, The Official Guilds of The Old Republic, which will be released March 12th. You can view more information HERE.

12. How do you define a quality member?*

A quality member is someone that displays all the aspects of a ‘perfect’ member. These aspects include: Being Honest, Being Loyal, Being Respectful, and Being Mature.

13. How did you find the Army of Light? Did someone recruit you? If so, please let us know who.*

I learned about the Army of Light through extensive research because I did form an alliance between you and The Force is With us. I thought that the Army of Light is the best guild I researched about.

Yes. I agree to show Respect and Maturity to all members. I agree to uphold the highest standards of Personal Ethics. I agree to keep RP fun and I understand that it is greatly encouraged. Most important, you MUST think before you speak. I also understand that spamming is prohibited. I also respect higher authority of the High Council and all admins, moderator, and owners.

14b. Do you pledge to fulfill them, most notably to uphold the virtues of Maturity, Honor, Respect, Personal Ethics and No Drama?*
I pledge to fulfill and uphold the virtues of Maturity, Honor, Respect and Personal Ethics. I also plede to have NO DRAMA in the guild, along with in the game.

15. Would you say that you embody the qualities of Respect, Honor, Loyalty, and Maturity? What are your definitions of these four words? Please don’t just answer yes or no, let us know why you think you possess these qualities.*

I embody the qualities of Respect because I know that everybody has different opinions and that no one person is right or wrong. So, I respect others opinions, and if I don’t agree with theirs, I simply don’t argue with them about it. Being honest is a trust factor to be, personally. I believe that to bring Honor to the guild, you must show proof that you are both respectable and loyal as an individual and as a member within a guild. Honor is not easy to achieve…you have to work up to it. I display loyalty because I know that when we face war, I will stick behind The Army of Light 110% and never quite, even when it seems like it would be better to join forces with the Sith Empire. I have my loyalties set with the republic, and republic ONLY. I display maturity in that I do not act as a child, and I treat others the way that they deserve to be treated. To be mature is to treat others with respect and not be a child with things that may come up.

16. In more than 30 but less than 100 words, please describe your personal character and the type of person you are (We wish to get a good feel of the type of person that will be becoming a part
of our guild family)*

I am a Composer and Performer. I have been studying both the Violin and Viola for about 20 years now. I have performed with the ASO (Atlanta Symphony Orchestra) and, one of my personal favorites, I was one conducted by no other than John Williams, himself for a performance entitled Music Rocks!. I am currently working on my PhD in conducting at UGA.

17. Tell us a little about your in-game character*

-Character Name: Ludwig VanCover

-Character Physical/Mental Features: My character is a human (age 21) from Coruscant. He is tall (6 foot 2 inches) and weighs about 200 pounds. He has the darkest brown hair, with dark blue eyes. He is working his doctorate in both politics and physiology.

-Character Biography: Ludwig was born into wealth in the capital of the republic, Coruscant. From a young age, he showed great interest in the performing arts and politics. At the age of 10, he performed one of his own concerto compositions with the CSO (Coruscant Symphony Orchestra) as the solo pianist. By the age of 18, he finished school and applied for the Republic Institute of Music. After being rejected (due to not being born in a house where the parents are musicians), he decided that he would go into politics, so that he may one day modify those laws and allow all students an opportunity to be accepted into the school. As Ludwig was working on his degree, he discovered a plot to overthrow the republic, but it was too late. The sith were already attacking. Being smart, Ludwig escaped the bombardment from the ships by stealing a ship that belonged to an educator. Currently, Ludwig in on Alderaan, continuing his studies so that he may better help a guild defeat the sith with his extensive knowledge.

Not sure if Ludwig is a very Star Wars like name.

I think that the problem is that, for most guilds, many members want to play as Jedi, not as a trooper, or a smuggler. I personally wanted to be a Jedi because I don't want to engage in battle with blaster or grenades. I would rather like to persuade the enemy with the force, so that conflicts may not happen. I would also like to, if it is possible, use battle meditation when we are in huge battles.

Indeed that is the case. There are plenty of Jedi, but not many of the others, and smugglers seem to be an endangered species.

I know of a couple of members on the TOR website that are smugglers that are looking for a good republic guild to join. Since I see that The Army of Light is looking for smugglers, I will recommend this guild to them. They have also told me that they are really into RP guilds.
