I’ve been a big Star Wars fan since I was a little kid (hasn’t everyone?). Star Wars: Dark Forces was the first I ever got into, and I have been following Star Wars video games ever since. I recently got into BioWare games when my friend recommended KOTOR to me, and I played through I and II in a matter of days. Since then, I have gotten more and more into BioWare Games, such as Mass Effect and Dragon Age. However, KOTOR – and indeed the entire Star Wars Universe – has always been my favorite. I have been following TOR since I first saw the Hope trailer, and have been introducing friends to the game, as well as just geeking out over every new release.

4. Please tell us about your other guild/MMO experiences. If there is more than one guild/experience, please include all of them. If you left your last guild, please tell us why you decided to leave. If you have used more than one name, please list them all.*

Guild Name (Reason for leaving if applies):
Senatus Altius. I left the guild because I stopped having time to play WoW. Senatus Altius was a great guild, and I didn’t leave them because they were bad or anything, I just didn’t have time. A few months ago, I started having time to play games seriously again, but decided to try out KOTOR and other BioWare games instead.

5. What type of role do you wish to take within the guild? How do you plan to be active? Please be specific.*

I hope to be one of the players who is always up for some serious roleplaying. Even if it’s putting a little spin on how we run a flashpoint, I want to help others in the guild feel immersed in the SWTOR world. As a Jedi Consular, shadow spec, I will serve the roll as a tank/DPS, so, if WoW is any indication, I’ll have to have an understanding of how the fights work. Digging deep into the mechanics of a boss fight is thrilling for me, and trying to figure out new ways to defeat one, then revising the strategy with the guild, would be amazingly fun.

6. Why do you feel the Army of Light is a good fit for you?*

Since playing WoW on a RP server, and being disappointed because that meant nothing to people on the sever, I am looking forward to having a guild that is seriously devoted to roleplaying. I love the Star Wars universe, and I’ve already started to develop a personal backstory for my future character, and I want an opportunity to be around and play with people who will share my passion for roleplaying, star wars, and, if the situation demands it, killing some Sith. I have an unusual time slot for playing, it changes from day to day, and I want to be part of a guild that is large enough, with enough people to befriend, that I can know someone will be online whenever I can get on to play.

7. What do you expect of the guild? Please be specific.*

Most of all, I want a guild that provides a great community, not just a group of people to run flashpoints with. From what I’ve read on the forums so far, Army of Light seems perfect. With the huge emphasis on role playing, I am psyched to spend time talking about character backgrounds, geeking out about star wars, or running some epic flashpoints. My biggest concern when I first started looking as SWTOR was, “Oh god, if I get a random flashpoint group, they’re going to pick all the stupid, self-serving dialog options because they don’t care about story.” I think that Army of Light will be just the group of people I need, who will spend time discussing the story-based decisions that make BioWare games so fun and immersive.

10.Role-Play experience/expectations. Can you give us some examples of Role-Playing you have participated in before. When it comes to expectations, give us an example of what would be fun to participate in, what you are looking for, etc.*

When I was younger, I was really into d20 games, like d20 Modern and DnD. I played as a DM in every one of these games, creating the environment for characters to role play in, and then having fun as I role played the NPCs. I have a few small writing projects here and there, and will probably major in English in college, so digging into stories, and being a part of them, is something I love. What I would expect from guild members in return is playing along, applying their character to the game, to create an awesome and immersive environment for me and the rest of the guild to play in.

11. How can you benefit and help the guild? Please include any skills or talents you have that you would
enjoy doing within the guild. How have you helped your previous guild(s), if you have previous experience?*

As mentioned above, I want to be able to help the guild by getting to know boss fights and teaching them to the guild (or working with them on it), and creating a fun roleplaying environment. I have some pretty in-dept knowledge of the KOTOR games (I play a mean game of Pazzak), which could be helpful for a curious guild member, and I know a little bit of coding (Java/C++). My previous guild experience was fairly limited, but I was able to work on some boss fight strategies.

12. How do you define a quality member?*

I would define a quality member as someone dedicated to the spirit of the guild: a fun environment of respectful and kind people, willing to roleplay, run some flashpoints, or fight in a warzone. After reading paragraphs upon paragraphs about guild edict on respect and maturity, I am convinced the Army of Light will require it’s members to be kind people, not trolls, boring players who just want loot, or people who are afraid of anything story or roleplaying related.

13. How did you find the Army of Light? Did someone recruit you? If so, please let us know who.*

I decided that I wanted to join a serious roleplaying guild, so I went to the forms, paged through a few posts, and found Army of Light. After getting halfway through the first page, I was sold.

Yes I have, and I have been very impressed.

14b. Do you pledge to fulfill them, most notably to uphold the virtues of Maturity, Honor, Respect, Personal Ethics and No Drama?*

I will try my best to act with honor maturity and respect, and, though I may have lapses at times, will accept responsibility for my actions.

14c. The Army of Light wishes to have members who take the concept of Commitment and Loyalty very seriously. By applying and if accepted, you are taking an Oath to both the guild and your guild-mates here. Is this something to which you can commit?

Definitely, I will follow the Oath to the best of my ability.

15. Would you say that you embody the qualities of Respect, Honor, Loyalty, and Maturity? What are your definitions of these four words? Please don’t just answer yes or no, let us know why you think you possess these qualities.*

I think I do. The idea behind respect, honor, loyalty and maturity is simply that we treat others in the guild with the fairness they deserve, not as tools to getting some loot. I want to get to know the people in Army of Light, so that I can respect them, be honorable towards them, be loyal to them, and act maturely around them. I believe that is the essence of these words.

16. Tell us about a time you offered assistance to someone who did not ask for it but clearly needed it. If you have never had this experience, tell us what you would do if faced with that situation?

A long, *long* time ago (five years), I played an ancient, Java game called Runescape. One day, I was running around trying to kill some people, when I ran into a much lower level player. He was wearing some dragonskin armor, which was pretty much worthless to me, but meant a lot to someone at his level. He was much lower level than me, so I let him walk by. But, right after he passed, a higher level player started attacking him. He didn’t need the armor (he was much too high level), but he started to kill this guy anyways. Upon seeing the defending player’s panicked attempts to escape, I charged at the attacking player, disgusted that he would do that just to make another player loose his armor. I took the guy down in a few seconds, and gave his loot to the defending player. He thanked me, and told me that he had been working for a week to get his current set of armor, and he would have lost all of it if that player had killed him. He said he would have asked for help, but he figured I would just ignore him like everyone else.

17. Role-play Scenario (please tell us how you would handle the situation): You are leading a group of 3 others through a forest on a remote moon to destroy an enemy communications relay. Up ahead in a clearing, you happen to spot a small Sith camp. Your group has not yet been spotted by the enemy. You are reasonably well supplied for your mission, including armaments. The clearing containing the Sith camp is not necessarily in your direct path to reach your original mission objective. Attacking the camp could alert the guards at the relay. However, attacking the relay without first dealing with the camp could mean enemy reinforcements from the camp. What do you do?

(My character is a jedi shadow, and has stealth). I would have my character stealth, and first check if there was some sort of com tower I could destroy to cut off communications to the Comms Relay, and then take out the camp, without fear of alerting the guards. If not, I would (while stealthed), hide thermal detonators throughout the camp, on a timer. While I was doing this, my team would search for an ambush spot that the guards from the base would take to reach the camp. When the explosives were placed, I would join my team at the ambush spot, and detonate the explosives. If the guards don’t walk by our ambush point, or seem too strong for us to handle, we would sneak into the base, taking out the remaining guards, while they were gone, then ambush them inside the base when they return. If they seem like easy prey, we would take them out at the ambush point. Once the guards are eliminated, we would access the Comms Relay, download any data that could be valuable to the Republic, including access codes to the network. With this done, I would plant explosives, and get the heck out of there.

18. In more than 50 but less than 200 words, please describe your personal character and the type of person you are (We wish to get a good feel of the type of person that will be becoming a part
of our guild family - a very important question!)*

I am a story geek. I love stories of all kinds, from respected literature, to action movies. I love reading stories, writing stories, and being a part of stories (in games). However, I don’t just limit myself to the writing. I want to know everything about everything. I want to know why a character in game thinks the way they do, and I want to know how the Modeling guys at BioWare created and animated her 3D model. I want to know the ins and outs of the ship I’ll be flying on, and I want to know, Physics-wise, how it travels at lightspeed. I get excited about figuring stuff out, learning backstory, understanding science, and solving puzzles. And, I love to have others that share my passion. My best friends are the ones that explain new Physics theories to me, or debate with me this video game is better than that one. I hope that, in Army of Light, I will find tons of people like that.

19. Tell us a little about your in-game character*
-Character Name: Morian
-Character Physical/Mental Features: Morian is just learning how to really interact with people again, so, while he is an excellent leader, is slightly awkward at times. He is slim, agile and wiry. His eye-covering has a red stripe pained across it, a reminder of the blood of innocents that is on his hands. Morian has a loyalty to his friends that is unparalleled. Because of the loss of his brother as a child, Morian regularly puts his life in danger to defend his friends.
-Character Biography: Morian is a Miraluka, one of the survivors on the independent world of Alpheridies. Morian was found to be an incredibly powerful force-sensitive when he was a child, but discovered this when he collapsed part of a temple on top of his family in anger, killing his younger brother. For most of his life, Morian remained quiet, studying the force without talking to others, fearing that if he gets attaches to others, he might lose them, like he did his brother. Morian trained as a jedi, spending hours meditating and reflecting. His affinity with the force is remarkable, but, until recently, has been very personal. A few years ago, Morian was sent on an escort mission by the council, to bring an republic diplomat to Coruscant. However, his ship was intercepted by a Sith scouting ship, relaying information back to the Sith Fleet before the Sacking of Coruscant. The diplomat was taken on board, leaving the Jedi on the ship. Forced to lead his small group of Jedi, Morian brought the team into the ship, killing the sith soldiers, and rescuing the diplomat. He befriended one of members of his squad as a result, and forged a deep friendship that lasts to this day. In the face of the Coruscant’s destruction, Morian was reminded of the destruction of Katarr, his family’s home world, and realized that he could sit by while the sith annihilated the republic. With his new friend at his side, Morian began to emerge from his shell, and become a leader among his friends.

Ahh, ok, thanks. Yeah, I created my SWTOR fourms account (SecondArk) before I came up with Morian's story, so I wasn't sure which one to put. Can I change my account name on swtor? That would make it easier for everyone.
