Hello,

I'd like to briefly introduce myself. Some of the information may be repeated in the questions below. My name is Chris. I'm 34 years old. I'm a Mechanical Engineer in Phoenix, Az. I graduated from Texas Tech University. I am a born and raised Texan. I have a 13yr old daughter I adore (my reason for moving to Arizona).

A little about my personality and how it will impact my style of play is that I tend to be protective. Whether it be my family, my friends, underdogs or my guildies, I tend to jump to the aid of my “group”. I am a bit of a solo player. What I mean is I enjoy the solo leveling of a toon. I do Raid when asked to tank but if not asked I will tend to continue my solo play style, though I am always ready to help people when they need it. My name is by no means set in stone. It is derived from using my daughter’s name and our last name.

3. My knowledge of Star Wars Canon is limited to the Movies and KOTOR games, as well as what I’ve picked up in the last year on the forums. I am a fan but outside of names, I will be found lacking in knowledge of Star Wars history.

Guild Name (Reason for leaving if applies): Veneration. I chose to stop playing WoW after 3 years. After having 4 – 80’s and many toons over 50 I was completely burned out from lack of any new content that wasn’t the same old grind.-Game: World of Warcraft

Over the years I have played many MMO’s. My first experience with an online game was “Dragonquest” back in 1996. It was a MUD that charged by the hour. I was in college at the time. My 2^nd was by far my favorite of all I’ve played, that being Ultima Online. I started playing it from launch and played for 5 years. I still have my account and log in occasionally just to reminisce. I started Wow during the Burning Crusade Expansion. I enjoyed it for the first couple years but it eventually felt like work and decided to walk away. I played SWG for a year before WoW but after the mishap I chose to move on. I’ve tried a few of the FTP games but none ever held my interest.

5. What type of role do you wish to take within the guild? How do you plan to be active? Please be specific.*

I enjoy being a Tank as well as DPS. My plan is to roll a toon for both. As for my roll within the guild, besides being a guild tank when called upon, I am the explorer type that will cover every inch of every planet before I start leveling another toon. I could be a guide for the guild or help mentor new players as they progress through the Jedi Knight story arc. My other love is crafting. I hope the game has the content to allow me to furnish equipment to the younger Jedi that I’ve been assigned to mentor.

6. Why do you feel the Army of Light is a good fit for you?*

I’m looking for an older crowd that is well organized but would not expect me to play 8hrs a day, every day. The older gamers tend to understand the limitations that come with having a career and family.

7. What do you expect of the guild? Please be specific.*

I expect courteousness, camaraderie within the guild. I expect good friendly people that can role-play but do not take offense when someone breaks character. I expect a sharing of knowledge and a genuine desire to assist each other when needed. (I tend to prefer solo play when leveling my own toons but I do enjoy helping others when asked)

10. Role-Play experience/expectations. Can you give us some examples of Role-Playing you have participated in before. When it comes to expectations, give us an example of what would be fun to participate in, what you are looking for, etc.*

I enjoy role-playing but it’s not something I absolutely require. I played D&D back in High School which is what exposed me to the role-playing way of life. I actually broke out my DM kit a few months back and started a new campaign but unfortunately had to move. I played on both a PvP and a RP (Thorium Brotherhood) server in WoW. When I wanted to RP I would log on my Mage or DK and immerse myself in the game. When I wanted to Raid or do World PvP I would use the Burning Legion server and Armoflight. I’m pretty easy going and do not expect constant role-play, just a show of respect for those that do.

11. How can you benefit and help the guild? Please include any skills or talents you have that you would enjoy doing within the guild. How have you helped your previous guild(s), if you have previous experience?*

My skill lies within the realms of crafting, assisting low level players and mapping out worlds by exploring. I can log and write detailed guides on areas within a world that is off the beaten path. When I find things of interest I would log the X,Y,Z coordinates and make sure the guild new not only where to go but what to expect from Mobs and the surrounding area.


12. How do you define a quality member?*

A quality member is someone that respects his fellow members and how they choose to play the game. This is about enjoyment, having adventures either alone or in a group atmosphere. It’s about friends and new experiences.

13. How did you find the Army of Light? Did someone recruit you? If so, please let us know who.*

I have been on the forums for a long time but wanted to get to know people before I started searching for a guild to join. I just recently decided to start actively seeking a quality guild to join. When I clicked on the Guild section and saw the guild name I knew I had found the right place for me. After reading your Guild page I knew I was right.

The website I have visited. I have also read through all the information on the sight regarding conduct, the expectation of a mature and respectful guild member. Even if I hadn’t read the information, I am typically one of the most courteous players in a guild. (I give credit to my Mom and the fact that I’m a Texas country boy)


14b. Do you pledge to fulfill them, most notably to uphold the virtues of Maturity, Honor, Respect, Personal Ethics and No Drama?

14c. The Army of Light wishes to have members who take the concept of Commitment and Loyalty very seriously. By applying and if accepted, you are taking an Oath to both the guild and your guild-mates here. Is this something to which you can commit?

I can, with my honor, say that I can commit my loyalty to the guild. As a retired Marine I feel I understand the value of loyalty and dedication.

15. Would you say that you embody the qualities of Respect, Honor, Loyalty, and Maturity? What are your definitions of these four words? Please don’t just answer yes or no, let us know why you think you possess these qualities.*

I do possess the qualities Respect, Honor, Loyalty, and Maturity. These are not easy words to define. Respect, to relate it to this game, is best summed up as accepting each person for who they are treating them as equals regardless of any differences. Honor is bound to truth, speak it, if you offer something, follow through on it, If you make a promise, fulfill it. What else can be said? Loyalty is not speaking badly of your guild under any circumstances. It’s not abandoning your guild because another promises something in return. Maturity sadly isn’t something that always comes with age. Maturity is having an understanding that sometimes things do not go your way and accepting the fact. It’s about helping when you can, knowing that it’s for the betterment of the group.

16. Tell us about a time you offered assistance to someone who did not ask for it but clearly needed it. If you have never had this experience, tell us what you would do if faced with that situation?

I’ve helped many young players find their bearings in the games but honestly I don’t think that should be outside the norm. There was this one time I was in line behind a lady at the grocery store, She had one kid by the hand and another in her arms. She didn’t have enough money for all the food she was buying. She started taking things out but I just handed the cashier the $20 she was short and told her to have a great day. I love the movie “Pay It Forward”. If more people thought the way that kid did this world would be a far better place.

17. Role-play Scenario (please tell us how you would handle the situation): You are leading a group of 3 others through a forest on a remote moon to destroy an enemy communications relay. Up ahead in a clearing, you happen to spot a small Sith camp. Your group has not yet been spotted by the enemy. You are reasonably well supplied for your mission, including armaments. The clearing containing the Sith camp is not necessarily in your direct path to reach your original mission objective. Attacking the camp could alert the guards at the relay. However, attacking the relay without first dealing with the camp could mean enemy reinforcements from the camp. What do you do?

Military tactics say that you would need to scout around the camp, check for any signs of additional activity. Are there more of them? You assess the number of Sith. What is their strength? Can they be handled quickly without risk of one escaping? What chances are there of alerting the relay? Next you scout the relay. Can we infiltrate without alerting the camp? If the relay is our primary target and we are reasonably confident in not alerting the camp then we continue with the main mission. If the camp is a worry and can be dispatched quietly then we will attack the camp from the far side to keep from alerting the relay station.

At work we took a personality profile test to ascertain our individual personalities. I was labeled “Team Worker”…meaning I was always trying to please everyone. It fits me well. I like to help people.

This is hard to answer since the game is not out yet. I hope to have the name Arev Sivad. I will be the professor type, always willing to help the lower levels. The crafter, making gear for those in need. Arev comes from a hard working family from the rural area of one of the republic planets (Yet to decide which). He was tested as an infant and sent to the Jedi order to train. Calm, well mannered and preferring the Guardian roll whether in battle or in teaching or outfitting his order, Arev is lovingly known as “professor”

After you have been here a minimum of 1 week and have done the aforementioned, you must then interview with myself or Supreme Master Caliber Mispir to pass into Full Membership.

With that successfully completed, you will report to the Jedi branch leaders (Master Caliber Mispir or Master Shoja Fodun) for general class branch training and to General Bren Durron or Master Vyynn Randos for Squadron/Platoon assignment. Squadrons will act as your home within your home and help acclimate you to guild life and try to answer any questions you may have.
