Mesmer's Application (Accepted)

I have not yet decided on the full name of this character, yet I'm quite sure that Mesmer will be his family name.

Jedi Consular. Jedi Wizard or whatever Bioware will call the specialization.

3. Please describe your knowledge of Star Wars? The more detailed the better, please: *
I have not read any of the books I'm afraid. I did see all the movies and played all the games which allowed me to experience it as a Force sensitive person. That would be Kotor1/Kotor2, Jedi Academy/Jedi Outcast, Battlefront 2 and Revenge of the Sith on PS2.

It is worth mentioning that I have no yet quit the aforementioned game. I plan to continue on playing it until SWToR's release and probably even afterwards for a limited period of time.

5. What type of role do you wish to take within the guild? How do you plan to be active? Please be specific.*
I intend to play an old, experienced fellow, who, despite being a powerful Jedi, would chose to solve most conflicts through the power of words rather than merely fighting. I wish, and am determined, to properly play a Jedi Master, therefore I am still reading on the lore to make sure I won't miss anything. Of course, I understand that the ranks are made to test the loyality and the quality of the applicant, thus I do not mind being taken through different stages yet I hope you'll understand that such an old Jedi, the way I want to play him, cannot possibly be ranked as a Padawan in-game!


6. Why do you feel the Army of Light is a good fit for you?*
I will be honest with you, this guild's thread on the SWToR's official forums was the first one I clicked and I was indeed impressed by what I saw there. I proceeded on checking out the website, reading some of the threads there as well and ultimately writing this application. In other words; if what I read is true, you're numerous, and if handled properly these numbers can help create amazing oportunities for role-play.

7. What do you expect of the guild? Please be specific.*
No.1: Competend leaders. I will seem to have a problem with authority if orders are not directed to me properly. I might find it impossible to respect my superior if that person treats me the way ancient Egyptians treated their slaves.
No.2: A friendly community. At least in the guild chat or in any other form of OOC communication system, I expect the members to be decent people. Being in a guild means that every member will back up eachother; it might be quite frustrating to be in a conflict with someone from outside the community whilst having a guildie standing by, laughing or merely watching. (Obviously, that might not always be the case. It would be stupid to walk around with your group of peolpe to entirely avoid conflict.)
No.3: Not-so-much RP-PvP. Much more expeditions/investigations/solving problems/debating and alike.

10.Role-Play experience/expectations. Can you give us some examples of Role-Playing you have participated in before. When it comes to expectations, give us an example of what would be fun to participate in, what you are looking for, etc.*
I am role-playing for almost an year now and I can proudly say that I've managed to learned quite a great deal of things from other people as well as from my own mistakes. I enjoy, and would genuinely like to experience, the expedition/discovery/investigation (spying even)/problem solving and debating types of role-play. I think it is more interesting to walk the streets of Nar Shaddaa, suddenly finding yourself in the middle of non-scripted conflict; where the one who wins has not be thought before or where there are no good/bad sides (ahem... such as RP-PvP where not scripting the outcome of a battle can make the whole role-playing event turn into a sad dissaster).


11. How can you benefit and help the guild? Please include any skills or talents you have that you would enjoy doing within the guild. How have you helped your previous guild(s), if you have previous experience?*
I cannot draw. I can lead small groups of people, I can help with creating events once I get a good grip of the game, I can create interesting plots as long as I'm not restrained by lore elitists (i.e. Just because it is not written on the Wiki website does not suggest it's inexistance. *Sage Nod*).


12. How do you define a quality member?*
Someone with common sense, you really don't need more than that to be a quality member in my view. A decent ammount of respect, sense of humor. A little bit of patience could help as well.

13. How did you find the Army of Light? Did someone recruit you? If so, please let us know who.*
On the SWToR's official forums.

Will proceed on doing so after I post this application.

14b. Do you pledge to fulfill them, most notably to uphold the virtues of Maturity, Honor, Respect, Personal Ethics and No Drama?*
This is actually a point where I have problems distinguishing the application between OOC and IC. My in-game persona will be that of a Jedi Consular and hopefully Jedi Master, therefore I will play it properly knowing that not everyone is a Jedi Master. I consider myself to be mature enough to play a game, I am a fair person - therefore honor will not be a problem, nor will the personal ethics.

As for drama, that is a part of role-play which I can't control and I do not want to; if the outcome of an event results in drama then there will be drama. That is if I understood properly what you meant by "drama".


15. Would you say that you embody the qualities of Respect, Honor, Loyalty, and Maturity? What are your definitions of these four words? Please don’t just answer yes or no, let us know why you think you possess these qualities.*
Respect = to show consideration.
Honor = fairness/honesty.
Loyalty = faithfulness
Maturity = properly acting/reacting.


16. In more than 30 but less than 100 words, please describe your personal character and the type of person you are (We wish to get a good feel of the type of person that will be becoming a part
of our guild family)*
I'm most of the time friendly, sincere (too sincere; straightforward even), usually showing a decent sense of humor as I like to think of it. I have a seething dislike for those who don't understand the difference between respecting someone and kissing someone's rear. I like it when I am allowed and encouraged to say what I want to say; also I am the type who prefers an ever so close to friendly relationship to the one who is supposed to be the superior.


17. Tell us a little about your in-game character*

Something-Something Mesmer (mentioned above and throughout the application I couldn't find something good )

-Character Physical/Mental Features:
Indubitably an old person, one could easily assume the early seventies or late sixties, tall and curiously to some, in an excelent physical shape for one of his age; he could even be described as having a muscular build to some extent - of course, nothing compared to those who solely focus on this aspect. He has long, white hair held back into a pony tail; a nicely kempt, small beard adorns him as well. The most prominent physical feature is most likely the color of his eyes, being that of a seemingly natural, dark blue color.

He would seem to constantly give off an aura of calmness or composure, probably never overly proud or vain. Never in the least arrogant, self-important, pompous, yet he would never refrain from showing what he is capable of, should the situation demand it. He is a very curious person, which could easily be described as a flaw; briefly, he really has to know everything that's going on around it and sometimes even influence it.

I like seeing other players like myself who would chose to fight with words then weapons! Also, it is recommended to chose a name soon, just because the game is expected to be released in a couple on months. It helps members to get to know you better also.

Will do. As I said before, I might need a bit of help when forming the bio - meaning that, when I'll post it, constructive criticism will be very much appreciated mainly because I might make mistakes on following the lore properly... and we don't want that!

Just make it basic and look at other bios which may help you with formatting or give you other ideas.
